Getting to & Around Trabzon

Getting to & Around Trabzon

Trabzon has its own airport with direct flights from Istanbul, running just under two hours — genuinely straightforward compared to overland Black Sea coast travel.

From the airport, the city center is a short 15-20 minute drive, and most hotels and tour operators arrange transfers.

A rental car is worth considering if Sumela Monastery and the surrounding Black Sea mountain villages are part of your plan, since public transport to these more remote spots is limited and not built around tourist schedules.

Trabzon's weather runs noticeably wetter and cooler than Turkey's other coastal regions year-round — worth packing accordingly rather than assuming Mediterranean-style conditions.
